Hi Indikaw,

Thank you for posting in our Intel® Ethernet Communities Page.

You have a very good question.

To better assist you, we need to get some logs from your system. It will tell us the different driver version and components installed on your system. Please download and run our Intel® System Support Utility from this page, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-. After running it, you will be given an option to save the logs to a text file, please do so and attach the file on your reply.

We would also like to know the speed profile that you set for each port of the card and how many of the available ports are you planning to use?

We look forward to hearing from you. If we do not get your reply, we will follow up after 3 business days.

Best Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. This is not an existing deployment but we are planning to deploy. We have a server with Intel X710 Quad port 10G (SFP+) nic and we need to connect 1G single mode fiber to it. When I checked the supported SFPs I found that E10GSFPLR is the single mode SFP that is supported. Now I need to know whether all 4 ports of Intel X710 card can work as 1GB single mode ports with E10GSFPLR tranceivers.

Thanks,

Indika.

Dear Alfred,

Since this server is in production, I am waiting to get a downtime to remove the card and to get a picture of the markings. Really appreciate if you can give me couple of days more.

User confirmed that the upstream switch is Huawei.

Thanks,

Indika.

Also is there a way to get adapter markings without shutting down the server.

Thanks,

Indika.

Hi Indikaw,

Thank you for patience in waiting for our response.

Here are our findings:

1. The E10GSFPLR supports dual speed - 1GbE (1000Base-LX) and 10GbE (10GBase-LR), as reference on page 2 of this product brief (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/ethernet-sfp-optics-brief.pdf).

2. According to the feature matrix of X710 - page 10, it supports multi-speed (1/10 GbE) optical modules - matrix file located in https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/design/products-and-solutions/networking-and-io/ethernet-controller-xl710/technical-library.html?grouping=EMT_Content%20Type&sort=title:asc (customer communication section, content ID 332191)

3. When we checked the product details of your client’s switch (Huawei quidway S5328C), it listed few modules that supports SFP, SFP+ and we cannot find the part that it mentions to support 1000Base-LX

https://www.router-switch.com/pdf/ls-s5328c-ei-24s-datasheet.pdf

We highly recommended for you to  contact the manufacturer of your switch to confirm if it supports the feature. It also depends where these Intel adapters are connected.

Hi Indikaw,

Thank you for your response.

It looks like the adapter that you are inquiring about is a non-intel SFP. Are we correct? If yes, it would be best if you check with Huawei to confirm if they will auto negotiate 4 x 1 Gbps.

We look forward to your reply. Should we not get your reply, we will follow up after three business days.
