Ethernet phy i211 without magnetics ?

Hi Intel community,

we'd like to connect i211 to another ETH PHY (a Marvell switch)  without the use of magnetics for board space matter. Is this doable ? if yes, is there a shareable application note (equivalent to https://www.intel.ru/content/dam/doc/application-note/8255x-fast-ethernet-controllers-without-magnetics-appl-note.pdf) ?

Thanks in advance. Regards.

Hello ThierryB,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Before we proceed, let me clarify. Are you designing or building a board with embedded i211 network card?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.

Hello Michael,

we are making TV Sat modulators on PCIe boards to be integrated in servers based on Intel x86.

i211 is connected to an ETH switch (Marvell IC) to address: 1/ our µProc for control and  firmware download, 2/ our FPGA for TSoIP. All these ICs on our PCIe boards.

As board area is critical, we'd like to get rid of magnetics in between i211 PHY  and ETH switch PHY

Best Regards.
