Hello Tkuz0,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

For me to further assist you, please provide the following details.

  1. Is it working fine before?
  2. Your X540-T1, Is it on on-board NIC or a PCIe NIC?
  3. Where do you usually get the BSOD? Is it during a particular software or app?
  4. Did you try to get the BSOD error code? Please provide the error code if you were able to get it.
  5. Have you tried updating the BIOS of your system?
  6. Have you tried updating the firmware of the NIC?

If you have questions, please let us know.

Best regards,

Hello Tkuz0,

Thank you for the quick response.

Upon checking the SSU and base on your response, please check my recommendations below:

  1. Please update the driver of your X540-T1 because as per SSU, the driver of is not validated.
  2. By the way, aside from X540-T1, you also have I219-LM. Please make sure which of these NIC's are causing the BSOD by isolation.
  3. Try to check if your OS have an update that me fix the issue.
  4. You may also try to check if PCC software supports the NIC that you are using.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello

We want to try another adapter for now, to see if BSOD will happen again. I've updated the driver. But it didn't help. I don't think that BIOS update will help. BSOD happened on 2 different PCs with different hardware. It doesn't happen with 1G card, only with X540-T1 10G card.

Hello Tkuz0,

Thank you for the update. This is a good way to isolate the issue.

If the new NIC is working fine, that means that the old NIC is the cause of the problem.

Can you tell me when can you update us about the performance of the new NIC?

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hello Tkuz0,

This isolation test is telling us that the NIC is not causing the issue because the chances that you have 2 faulty NIC's is very low.

Can you provide the following details?

  1. What is the brand and model of the new NIC?
  2. What is the brand and model of your mother board?
  3. Did you try to install the new NIC to different PCIe slots?
  4. Have you tried your 2 NIC's to a different system? (this is optional just to check that indeed the NIC's are not faulty)

If you have questions, please let us know.

Michael L.
