I want to know how to monitor the VF of SR-IOV?

my physical network card ens1f0 is on HP C7K card

driver: ixgbe, version is 5.1.0-k-rh7.5

in my ENV, I enable 64 VF, however, I only use 22 VF and each VF has the below configuration:

vf 49 MAC fa:16:3e:b0:6e:d0, vlan 114, spoof checking on, link-state auto, trust off, query_rss off

once I trigger a huge traffic on some of them, then the rest will be impact.

fg, it can't ping gw, however, after around 10 minutes, then it can ping gw again. this issue will keep there until reboot physical host.

since this is remote system, I can't trace packet on router, so do you have any way to approve the ping request is sent out from physical host to switch? I can only see by TCPdump on guest VM and the ping request is sent out. so howto know where the packet is dropped.

thanks in advance!

Hello Cliff,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities. Please provide the following details for us to check on your query.

1.) Exact model of the Ethernet adapter. You may provide the PBA number of the adapter for us to double check on it. This would help us identify if you are using an OEM or retail version of Intel Ethernet Adapter. You may refer to the link below on where you can locate the PBA. It consists of 6-digit number located at the last part of the serial number.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007022/network-and-io/ethernet-products.html

2.) What is the Operating system used?

3.) Please share the link where the driver was downloaded.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks for quick answer:

For your question:

1) PBA, I can't provide it now because lib is in other country and I have to query that

does this output meet your needs?

lspci -vv -s 09:00.0| grep -i pba

               PBA: BAR=3 offset=00002000

2) The os is

uname -a

Linux overcloud-sriovperformancecompute-10 3.10.0-862.9.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Jul 16 16:29:36 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

3) I think Driver is download with OS.

ethtool -i ens1f0

driver: ixgbe

version: 5.1.0-k-rh7.5

firmware-version: 0x80000886

expansion-rom-version:

bus-info: 0000:09:00.0

supports-statistics: yes

supports-test: yes

supports-eeprom-access: yes

supports-register-dump: yes

supports-priv-flags: yes

thanks in advance!

hi Crisselle,

I think we are in the wrong direction. the network card in C7K used is from HP not Intel.

however, the driver is ixgbe from Intel.

so I can't find PBA with MYI63705NM, right?

Hello Cliff,

Thank you for the reply.

Since you mentioned that this is an Ethernet adapter from HP (an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) version of Intel Ethernet adapter), we would suggest to contact HP for further assistance and for the correct driver to be installed on your system. They are in best position where you can seek assistance so you don’t lose features or customizations of your Ethernet adapter.

You may visit this link for the List of Supported Retail Intel® Ethernet Adapters

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005612/network-and-io/ethernet-products.html

Let us know if you have any other assistance needed form Intel Ethernet team.

Looking forward to your reply.
