I217-V unclaimed and e1000e "unprobed" on Ubuntu 12 or 14 or 16???

Hello!

I've got a new Positivo Master N250I laptop which has an onboard I217-V Wired Network Card.

Thing is it doesn't get detected by operating systems, except for Windows 10.

On Ubuntu 12.10, 14.10 and 16.10, for example, it fails to load upon system initialization, specifically, on module probing.

By lshw -C network, I just get the device tagged as UNCLAIMED.

I did dmesg | grep e100 both before and after downloading, recompiling and modprobing the latest e1000e driver (3.3.4), but both brought me the same result:

Can anybody shed some light on this issue? Has anybody solved it?

Thank you for the post. I understand you are using our Linux driver 3.3.4 for the Ubuntu OS, however we do not have official Ubuntu driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/60019/Intel-Ethernet-Connection-I217-LM

As this is an OEM onboard NIC on a system (a laptop), normally the system vendor has their own OEM version OS and driver and they might have put some restriction on the OS and driver installed on the system. You can also try checking with the laptop vendor for customized driver.

Thank you very much for your response.

The vendor, which is Positivo, shipped the system with an OEM Mandriva distribution.

The problem is it happens to be a lousy distribution for software development. Seems that it's not even supported anymore.

Do you, perhaps, have a list of Linux distributions that have passed a compatibility test on this particular hardware (the I217-V wired network card)?

or maybe a list of other OEM distributions that you are aware that do support your hardware (except for Mandriva though )?

You may refer to the available Linux and Freebsd driver for I217-V at our website https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/70831/Intel-Ethernet-Connection-I217-V For the list of Linux distribution that passed compatibility test, I would recommend you to contact OS vendor for they are the one to validate the parts on the OS.Thankswb

Good day. It is recommended to contact your laptop vendor for them to verify if Ubuntu canbe supported on your laptop and if driver is available as the laptop vendor may has imposerestriction on the OS to be supported on the system. You may try check on sourceforge.net for available driver in case there is. Hope this help.rgdswb
