Hello,
We're employing the i210-IS Ethernet controller for our 1000Base-KX setup. Our schematic design is underway, utilizing Intel's provided reference design (please refer to the attached document). However, we have some inquiries regarding the i210-IS implementation for 1000Base-KX. Here are our questions:
- The reference design suggests that NCSI is optional. Could you verify if any external components are necessary in this case?
- Are DEV_OFF and LAN_PWR_GOOD required for our implementation?
- There's no mention of SMB, I2C, or LED for the Backplane use case. Could you confirm if any of these signals are vital for 1000Base-KX?
- No details are provided for the serial or terminal components required for the SERDES RX/TX signals. If available, could you please provide the necessary components and their values?
- What role do software-defined pins play in the 1000Base-KX application?
- The i210 Reset signal isn't connected to the JTAG connector or the host processor in the reference design. Is it acceptable to pull it down to ground through a 4.99K ohm resistor?
- Since the i210 lacks a CLK req signal, do we need to keep the PCI clock always enabled?
- SMBus has not been used on other designs, could you please confirm if the I210 requires SMB to be connected to host processor?
Thanks,
