Installed Windows 10 NIC drivers but MS says still not compatible?

My motherboard has a "Intel Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" NIC built into it.

I have installed the latest Win10 compatible drivers (ver 20.2) from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/71305/Intel-Ethernet-Connection-I218-V https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/71305/Intel-Ethernet-Connection...

However, Microsoft's "Get Windows 10" compatibility checker still says "Unfortunately, this PC is unable to run Windows 10" reason "There are no supported networking devices".

How do I resolve this? Looks like there is a communications gap between Intel (who claims ver 20.2 drivers are compatible) and Microsoft (who thinks that they are not).

BTW, my motherboard is http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Anniversary/index.us.asp?cat=Download&os=Win1064 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Anniversary/index.us.asp?cat=Downlo...

They have ver 20.2 listed there as well.

Aloke

Hi Aloke,

Thank you for contacting Intel.

It seems like our driver is not compatible with your on-board NIC. We recommend to try the tested drivers provided by Asrock*, your motherboard manufacturer.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Sandy

Hi Aloke,

Thanks for replying.

Have you tried using the drivers supplied by Asrock*? Do you get the same error message as below?

Yes. I checked the versions and dates of the .sys and all the .dll's in the Driver tab for the adapter in Device Manager. They are the same as that from the Intel Download Center. Nevertheless, I am now running the drivers from AsRock.

e1d62x64.sys 12.13.17.4

e1d62x64.din unknown

e1dmsg.dll 10.0.199.0

NicCo4.dll 4.2.3.0

NicInstD.dll 9.12.13.0

All are signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility.

I am hamstrung by being unable to force a re-scan of my system by the Get Windows 10 compatibility checker. It shows the Last run date of 8/6/2015. It is supposed to run again automatically every month. So maybe it will be happy with this version of the driver... but I can't tell until MS has scanned my system again.

Hi Aloke,

Thank you for sharing your driver details. I see these versions are all signed by Microsoft.

We'll wait for the scan results for the time being.

Sincerely,

Sandy
