Hi AlfredS_Intel.

1. Disto and Version of the Linux OS that you are using.

<<

Ubuntu 18.04, kernel 5.4.31 (kernel compiled from source, without any configuration changes), gcc 9.2 (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain-r/+archive/ubuntu/test). With kernel version 4.19.114, the problem does not repeat.

You can work calmly. Fix is not in a hurry.

Hi Sj5,

Thank you for patiently waiting for an update.

After spending the last few days, checking and looking for a fix for your concern, and considering the new information that you have shared, our engineering team ruled out that the kernel that you are having problems with is a very new kernel and we currently have no fix for this one yet. As a workaround, our team suggests for you to use the in-kernel driver. Our engineering division though is already aware of this and is now hard at work to fix this concern. As much as we would like to provide you a definite timeline on when you can expect a fix, we do not have any timeframes currently. We hope for your understanding on this.

Please let us know if you have any further questions about this issue. To give you ample time to come up with insights or further questions on this one, we will check back with you after 3 business days.

The driver in the kernel + suricata (ips) does not work correctly - access to services is periodically blocked. The problem is very difficult to track, or rather, the dependency, but I know for sure that kernel 4.19.115 + driver 5.3.5.42 + suricata (ips) work stably.

I think that a separate post will be needed to discuss this issue.

Hi Sj5,

Thank you for your patience in waiting for an update.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for not getting back to you in time. Our team just needed the extra time to further check the recent issue that you are shared regarding the Suricata application.

Our team ruled out that the problem that you are seeing has something to do with the Suricata application and the new kernel. The ability to install our latest drivers may likely not change that.

As for the compile error: A bug report has been filed and should be fixed in a 2nd quarter driver release.
