Intel Boot Agent - CL and GE

Hello,

Can someone point me in the right direction or a KB article or explain what is the different between the different Intel Boot Agents.

Recently I've been seeing the following:

CL

GE

FE

Is there a matrix that explains the differences?

Or could be be product developments, FE became GE which became CL (or something like that)

Just to double check where did you see CL, GE or FE bootagent version, so that we can further check.

We have some Dell Precision 7710, Other Dell's, HP and standard Asus motherboards. Its a big mix really.

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent (Intel CL v0.1.05)

We also have others that looks like this:

So three different Boot Agents, CL, GE and FE, with completely different version numbers.

Any update on this, how many months do you need?

This should be fairly well documented. Someone in Intel is developing this, but there are no readme notes and any doco of the sort. Not good Intel!!

Can you ask what the difference between CL and GE is (as per opening/title)

We have 1Gbe Intel NIC's booting with CL and other 1Gbe using GE. In fact, we could load a CL or GE OPROM and they would both work, so the ROM supports the Intel hardware (NIC), but what's the difference in the software?

Good day. Here are the information I confirm:

CL refers to clients supports, which is for the Gigabit LOM's. (Desktop Lan On Motherboard)

GE refers to supports for server silicon. (Server Adapters) .

Hope these clarifies your concern.
