I have got that problem on few laptops Dell Precision 3150. I have tried different versions of drivers, bios and clean Windows installation and problem still persist.

Please let me know if the ULP tool was able to resolve the code 10 error on your I218-LM?
Just to double check, what is the operating system used on these Dell laptops? Is there any ! mark in the device manager?
Have you tried using the driver posted on Intel's website for the I218-LM( Please note this is just generic version which we do not guarantee 100% compatibility)
