We are upgrading devices from Win7 to Win10 1803 via an SCCM task sequence. The task sequence fails on some models - Lenovo. The OS is upgraded fine but the task sequence halts after that step because the device has no network connectivity.
The setupapi.setup.log shows that the NIC driver install goes OK until setup tries to restart the device. It then gives:
Device not started: Device has problem: 0x15 (CM_PROB_WILL_BE_REMOVED), problem status: 0x00000000.
The upgrade to Win10 1607 does not encounter this problem. Nor is there any problem when going from 1607 to 1803. Driver version does not seem to be an issue as I have tried a couple different drivers, including the latest, and the same thing happens with the same error in the setupapi.setup.log.
If a device fails like this, a reboot will restore connectivity. My understanding is that this error refers to a device that is being uninstalled.
Anyone else encountered this? And found a fix?
