Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-DA4 Ports down after Firmware Update to 18.x

Hi,

in our Dell R730 are installed two Intel X710.

One with 2 ports and one with 4 ports.

The firmware update from 17.5.12 to 18.8.9 was successful on the 2 port card. The 4 port (da4) gets no link on all 4 ports. Firmware downgrade from 18.8.9 to 17.x is not possible. We received an other card with firmware 18.5 which is also not working. Does anyone has an idea to resolve the problem? it looks like a 18.x problem and quadport cards

thanks

Steve

Hello Steve,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Please provide the System Support Utility log of your system. This will allow us to check your Adapter details and configuration. This would also help us to identify if this is an OEM or Intel retail version of Ethernet Adapter. Kindly refer to the steps below.

1- Download from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/91600/Intel-System-Support-Utility

2- Open SSU.exe

3- Mark the box "Everything" and then click "Scan".

4- When finished scanning, click "Next".

5- Click on "Save" and attach the file to a post.

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for the reply.

Please share the website where you downloaded the 18.x firmware. You mentioned that you received other card with firmware 18.5 which is also not working, can you confirm if this is the same model as X710-DA4?

Hello Steve,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Since you mentioned that this is a Dell OEM card and firmware from Dell, it is recommended to contact Dell for further support. OEM NIC vendor customized firmware to adapt to the changes made on their NIC, thus they are in best position to provide the firmware so that you don’t lose features or customizations.

Please visit this link for the List of Supported Retail Intel® Ethernet Adapters.

Please let us know once you've contacted Dell regarding this issue.
