Intel I211 Gigabit Network Adapter Drops Speed

I have had a wired connection from my Intel I211 network adapter on an Asus PRIME X570 Pro motherboard for a few years now with no issues.  Just recently, after turning the computer on one day, my wired internet connection speed has been dropping to abysmally slow speeds (<1 Mbps).  Webpages, videos, etc. might load for a minute or two but then hang and/or timeout.

As a backup for the Intel I211 adapter I have installed a USB Wifi adapter that has had no problems.

Solutions I have tried with the I211 adapter:

1)  Router reboots.

2)  Different LAN ports on the router.

3)  Tried a laptop wired connection using the same cable/router port that was attached to my I211 adapter and the laptop had no issues.

4)  Uninstall, reinstall, and update device drivers for Intel I211 adapter.

Still no luck.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello Max99,

Thank you for the swift response.

Please try out the following and let us know of the result.

1. Will you be able to try Clean Driver Installation for your Intel® Ethernet Connection? Please refer to the following steps

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058304/ethernet-products.html

2. Lower the value or turn off interrupt moderation as this is best for handling many small packets so the driver is more responsive to incoming and outgoing packets.

3. Disable other I211 features such as offloading, Energy Efficient Ethernet, and flow control.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Hello Max99,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing disconnection issue on your Intel I211 Gigabit Network Adapter.

For us to proceed checking your request, please provide the following information.

1. When was the issue first encountered?

2. Is there any software or hardware changes prior to issue?

3. How often does the issue occurs?

4. Do you see any error message every time the issue occurs?

5. Have you tried installing the driver from your manufacturer? We understand that this is an Ethernet controller that's embedded with Asus system. For Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) on-board Ethernet controller, we'd like to set your expectation that we might have a limited support and it would be best if you can also get in touch with Asus for further support since they have customized drivers and software to enable or alter features on your system. They are in best position where you can seek assistance so you don’t lose features or customizations of the Ethernet controller.

Thank you for the response.

This issue has been occurring since June 6, 2022.

No hardware or software changes prior to the issue.

It occurs on every use of the computer.

The only error messages are from websites saying requests have timed out or poor network performance notifications on videos sites, such as YouTube.

I have tried the latest drivers from Asus’s Support site.

Best Regards.

Thank you for the response and suggestions.  I completed a Clean Driver installation and modified the adapter settings as requested and I am happy to say that my wired connection has been working at full speed again for the past two days without any interruptions.  Thanks for the support and best regards.
