Intel I211AT - Xfinity gigabit internet, Win 10 2004 speeds ~400dn Ubuntu 20.04 ~930dn

Hello,

I upgraded my plan with Xfinity to gigabit speed but my desktop's speed was ~200dn, a screenshot of using Chrome, MS Edge Chrome, and Firefox a few months back:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkG6_LvJpkR7jutPNDr_qIzgvNOzuA?e=hERrsT

I finally got back to trying to fix it, I updated Speed & Duplex setting from "Auto-Negotiation" to "1.0 Gbs Full Duplex" in advanced properties for the Intel I211AT Gigabit adapter, this did increase my speeds up to ~400 down.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkG6_LvJpkR7jut9Yt5jw9skSa94Lg?e=5WvqKq

I updated the driver from version: 12.18.8.22 to the latest available: 3/5/2020 12.18.9.7 this did not make a difference in the above download speeds.

The Windows SpeedTest App is worse, at around ~130  https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkG6_LvJpkR7jut_P7cRYQCyMgnoYg?e=gUql3d

So, I created a bootable UbuntuDDE 20.04 USB to test the hardware and internet service another way. The speed is what you would expect from a gigabit connection at 900+ Mbps down:

Firefox: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YupU9WerX5Es67jC9

Chromium: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TqgocVKYCfo8Ywpq5

Windows safe mode, the tests are much faster.

Chrome speed test in safe mode: https://photos.app.goo.gl/vpPLMkxEt5J4EAPZ9

Firefox speed test in safe mode: https://photos.app.goo.gl/KDN4n14y8UCSWyoZ6

This tells me there is a software/driver issue in Windows, yes??

HWInfo64 report: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkG6_LvJpkR7juwAEijrmBL8V7ELnA?e=x54eOF

Are there other settings I should change in Windows? I know +400 Mbps down is really more than one needs but I'd like to utilize all I'm paying for.

Thanks for any advice you may be able to lend.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me and attempting to help.

1. Yes the integrated NIC on the motherboard
2. ASRock X370 Gaming X
3. Intel 12.18.9.7 3/5/2020 (I had downloaded ProWin64.exe on 7/10/2020)
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/64403/Intel-Ethernet-Controller-I211-Series
(I just downloaded the one dated 7/14/2020 - which I will install and report back on this message as well)

BIOS: P5.20 12/17/2018 (I've checked and there aren't any newer BIOS' for this board)

Okay I installed the newer driver with the same results in windows - see attached image

Hello jdelano,

Thank you for the update. At this point, since you already tried Intel's generic driver. It is best to contact

the manufacturer of the board for further checking on how to increase the speed. And also, you may ask them for the latest network driver, they should have the appropriate driver since the network card is integrated on their board.

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.
