Hi,
I have an Intel I350-T4 and two USB to Ethernet adapter. The two NIC are connected to a network switch.
If I send tagged packets one of the adapters to the switch. I see in Wireshark that the VLAN tagged is removed for the I350, packets received in the other adapter is working as fine.
If I send tagged packets from the I350, I can see in the Wireshark that the packets are egressing with VLAN tag. The packets received in the two adapters are also with VLAN tag.
I have updated the drivers for the I350 NIC. I am also using a Windows 10 PC. Is there anything that I need to configure to prevent the I350 from stripping the VLAN information?
I tried using the I350 NIC on a Linux PC, and I'm seeing the VLAN information on the received packets just fined.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karl

Hi karl4,
Thank you for your response.
We regret to inform you that this is an Operating System limitation since Windows 10 does not technically support Intel® Advanced Network Services (Intel® ANS). The only work around is to reconfigure VLANs once done with Windows update. If in case you have further inquires about the Windows validation, you may need to contact Microsoft for further assistance.

I'm able to send VLAN packets, using a packet generator, out of a network adapter. When packet travels out of the network adapter, to the switch, and then back to two another network adapters. One network adapter, USB to Ethernet, captures the packet with VLAN tag. The other network adapter, Intel I350, captures the packet without VLAN tag.
The Intel I350 is having issues where it is removing the VLAN tag. Do I need the Intel ANS, to get the I350 working properly?

Hi Karl4,
Thank you for your response.
From our understanding, the I350 adapter is not accepting packets with VLAN tags, but outgoing packets seem unaffected. Additionally, this issue appears to be specific to the Windows 10 environment, as there are no issues in Linux. Kindly correct us if this is wrong.
To help us troubleshoot further, could you please provide the following details:
- Was the network adapter purchased directly from Intel or shipped with a system?
- Board details where the issue persists.
- Front and back pictures of the network adapter with the product markings clearly visible(if purchased directly from Intel).
- A link to the driver currently in use in your Windows 10 environment.
- Have you checked if the issue persists on other versions of the Windows operating system?
- Is it the same network adapter that works fine in the Linux environment, or is it a different one? If it’s a different adapter, please share the product markings.
- Complete details of the Linux operating system and board details where the adapter is functioning properly.
We also recommend reviewing our latest article on creating Intel® Advanced Network Services Teams and VLANs on Windows® 10. You can find it here:

Please let us know if the issue persists after reviewing the article.

Hi Karl4,
Thank you for contacting Intel.
As mentioned earlier, this is an operating system limitation, as Windows 10 does not technically support Intel® Advanced Network Services (Intel® ANS). As this is out of our scope of support, you may need to contact Microsoft for additional assistance.
Hence, I will go ahead and close the case.
If you need assistance with any other concerns, feel free to reach out.
