Dear all,
the Intel PRO 1000 CT Desktop Adapter (EXPI9301CT ) is supporting WOL.
But it does not work when you try to use it in a Windows 10 machine.
I think the reason is the Driver. Because Intel does not provide a Driver for Windows 10.
The inbox Driver is used instead.
The Intel Driver has it's own tab for the powermanagement, where the WOL Options can be set.
The Windows inbox Driver only has the Default Windows Settings.
Has anybody an idea how to use WOL with the PRO 1000 CT Adapter?
Thanks.

Hi Wortmann-Martin,
Thank you for writing at Wired Communities. Yes, the CT desktop adapter does not have Intel's driver for Windows* 10, you may refer to below website for reference, the NIC is supported in Windows* 10 using driver provided by Microsoft*.
https://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-035770.htm
I manage to check on the Microsoft website and found the following information for your reference. (Please note below website is a third party website for your reference, Intel has no control over its content)
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_web/wake-on-lan-no-longer-works-after-updating-to/2c7ff657-e922-4fa2-abd1-59e126fc2ec1
Hope the above information could be of help.
regards,

Hi Sharon,
thanks for your reply.
Your link to Microsofts Website is regarding the Windows fast Startup Feature.
I already have disabled it.
Unfortunately WOL still does not work.
In the current case there is mother board ASUS Z170M-Plus. And it has an onboard Ethernet Adapter: Intel i219-V
Using the onboard Adapter i219-V I can wake the System over LAN.
But using the PCI-e Pro 1000 CT Desktop Adapter no WOL is possible.
The reason may be that the Driver provided by Microsoft only provides Basic functionality.
I tried to install an other Driver, but no other Driver is able to install.
Best Regards,
Martin

Hi Sharon,
that is interesting.
In my Windows 10 the Driver is Version 12.15.22.6 Driver date: 04/05/2016
The power Management tab only offers the Default Windows Settings.
Windows Version is 1703 build 15063.483

Hi Martin,
I tried installing your version of Windows 10 and there is the power management option in the CT network adapter property. The driver version is the same as yours version 12.15.22.6 dated: 04/05/2016. Can you help check with in the BIOS if any wake on lan setting should be enable? Can you try updating the board BIOS?
Thanks,
sharon

Hi Sharon,
thank you for your information.
Unfortunatley this PC system is not available anymore.
I can arrange another system and I will check the CT adapter there.
Thank you for your help.

Martin
