Hi there,
I've a problem with Intel(R) 4P X550-t rNDC onboard NIC. Let me explain my situation.
* The X550 NIC is a part of Dell R640 ESXi server and all 4 ports are connected to the switches.
* The issue had arose after the DDR4 DIMM on Socket B1 had been replaced.
* port #1 and #2 works normal and transmit data through them.
* ports #3 and #4 don't transmit data and just drop the packets.
* port 1,3 connected to the same switch, and 2,4 also connected to the same switch.
* currently we turned off the switch port on network side to avoid packet drop.
Have you ever faced similar issue?
Thanks

Hi Ulzii,
Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.
At the present moment, we can be sure to consider that the DIMM replacement and the NIC issues may be connected.
From the public information on Dell R640 ESXi server has X550 Network daughter card, NDC is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
Suggestion:
You may need to run the NVM firmware update, in order to make sure you have the latest NVM version installed.
Before doing so, please make sure to have the latest Ethernet driver, which needs to be compatible with your OS.
Please check below resources on how to perform the NVM update, as well as the driver related information.
Intel Ethernet Adapters Compatibility with VMware
As per the above articles, you should use the ixgben driver from VMware.
Please also consider reinstalling the driver on one of the systems, to check if the issue persists.
Run the below utility to make sure you have the latest NVM version.
Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) Update Utility for Intel Ethernet Adapters 550 Series—VMware ESX
Check the Readme text file for instructions on how to perform the NVM update using our utility.
Also, in case LAN driver reinstallation is required, please do so.
Should the issue persist following the driver and NVM firmware update, we would recommend to contact Dell Technical Support for further assistance.
In case we do not read from you, we will get back to you on Friday.
Best regards,
