Intel x540 T2 Performance.

I have two Intel S2600WF server systems.

Hello. my name is Heo.

and I have question.

Each server(Intel ServerSystem S2600WF) has one Intel x540 T2 installed.

Each server is connected by onboard nic (intel x722) cat6 cable,

Additional attached x540 t2s are also connected with a cat6 cable.

The Windows 10 Pro(x64) operating system is used, and the driver version is 25.0.

Running the iperf(v3.1.3) tool for performance testing yields good performance on the x722 but not on the x540.

Attach a photo to verify performance.

How can I increase the performance of my x540 t2?

Please help me.

Hi Alfred S,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, my customer is a secure site and can not collect and export logs.

The hardware firmware is the last version, and using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64 (1809), and device driver version is 25.0.

Mainboard(S2600WF) BIOS Setting is default(Not changed).

Is there any other way to modify the BIOS item or other config?

Or to change the network connection settings in the Windows Device Manager?

Or another config?

Best regards,

Sheo

Hi, AlfredS,

I've tried setting things up through the links answered, but I'm still not getting performace.

I'll change to intel x550-t2 card and retest.

and I'll attach the results.

Can I buy a PCIe Copper type card for the Intel x722 chipset?

thank you.

Hi Sheo0,

We will wait for your test results.

To answer your question, we have this product https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/139350/intel-ethernet-network-adapter-x722-da2.html. that uses copper medium and connects via PCI-E. Please be reminded though that unlike the card, X540-T2, that you are reporting this uses SFP cables rather than RJ45.

Should we not hear from you, we will check back with you after 3 business days.

Hi, AlfredS,

Yesterday I changed to intel x550-t2 and checked the performance again.

However, the performance is not as good as before.

I checked it all out and found something.

Change the operating system of both servers is Windows 2012 R2 or 2016 or 2019 server edition, the performance is good.

I've tuned JumboFrames, RSS, etc... the way you told me before, but it doesn't perform well on Windows 10 pro OS.

I think it needs a NIC driver update.

After updating the driver, need to check if the performance is working in windows 10 pro.

Please confirm that the product officially supports windows 10 pro driver from Intel.

thank you.

Hi Sheo0,

Thank you for finding the time to try our recommendations.

It looks like the issue is only present in Windows 10. To answer your question, the product officially supports Windows 10, and it has officially released drivers from us. You can download the newest released driver on this page.

We will wait for the results of your testing. If we do not hear from you after 3 business days, we will follow up with you.

thank you.

Hi Sheo0,

Version 25.0 is the latest version.

By the way, the Windows 10 that you are referring here, is this a Virtual Machine or a local install?

Hi, AlfredS,

Local installation of all servers. Not VM.

And I'm still checking.

Hi, AlfredS,

The Windows 10 operating system didn't perform well.

I'll change Windows 2019 Server.

As I said before, performance is good in Windows 2019 Server.

You may close this case.

Thank you.
