Is there any way to get VF's with X710-DA2 on Windows Server 2012 R2?

Hello. We got ourselves new X710-DA2 card recently and put it into Dell's R620 server running Windows Server 2012R2 Datacenter. We want to partition X710 adapter's ports to at least 2 VF's each, one for iSCSI trafic and one for VM's (per port). Is there any way to do it?

Hi qurvax,

Just want to further understand your setup. Are you creating this partition inside the virtual machines?

Sincerely,

Sandy

No, we want them on the host level.

The reason for such config is that VMQ and RSS and iSCSI cannot live well together on one windows network interface. So we need to be able to partition physical port into several "virtual". Then enable VMQ's for one partition to be used with hyper-v virtual switch. Enable RSS for the other - that's for LiveMigration traffic. And the last one goes to iSCSI, with offload to hardware, if possible. On top of that we of course need DCBX, to not screw up whole convergent thing up when network becomes saturated.

Hi qurvax,

You may want to check out your SR-IOV configuration. Please refer to the guides below:
