It takes about 2~3 seconds to make the interface in Up status, after "ip link set dev eth0 up"

Is this normal to make the link UP after 2~3 seconds? If this is abnormal, how to debug this kind of issue?

Hello mzhan017,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

For us to further check the issue, please provide the following details.

  1. Are you using a PCIe network card or onboard network card?
  2. If you are using onboard, please provide the brand and model of your board or system.
  3. If you are using a PCIe card, please send a photo on both sides of the card focusing on the markings.
  4. What is your OS?
  5. Can you share the link of the latest driver that you installed?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.

Hello mzhan017,

Thank you for resending the information. According to the attached picture that you sent, you are using an onboard HP network card. By the way, is this working fine before or this has been the behavior of the card ever since? Have you tried contacting HP about this issue?

If you have questions, please let us know. In case we do not hear from you, we will make a follow up after 3 workings days. Thank you.

Hi Michael,

I haven't contact the HP support yet. Do you suggest?

The issue happened in a long time in our lab.

From your experience, is it normal to take 2~3 seconds to became UP?

Thanks,

Mark

Hello mzhan017,

If this working fine before, definitely there is something wrong. However, it is best to check this with HP if they adjusted the speed of connecting to the network or if they have fix for this. The network card is embedded on their board so they may or they can alter some settings or features if they want to.
