Looking for a PCIe network card

I have a Crosshair V Formula and the drivers for the internal intel adapter are not supported by 2008 Server (ESXi supports it fine). I am looking for a PCIe 2.0 card (dual) that will work on this MB. So far all the cards I look at have smaller connectors. Will the smaller connectors work on a PCIe 2.0 x 1, or X16 slot.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Raforbes, you can check out this link for supported intel adapter on win2k8, smaller adapter should fit in bigger slot - example - pci-e x1 adapter is compatible with x4,x8,x16 pci-e slot.

Smaller connector will work on a bigger slot. Take a look at the tech specs of Gigabit CT Adapter http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/prodbrief/319831.pdf here.

It supports Bus width - x1 lane PCI Express operable in x1, x4, x8, x16 slots.

Hope this helps!
