My 'spare' computer has failed and the Device Manager shows a yellow question mark against Ethernet Controller and Mulimedia Audio Controller and indicates no driver present. I have found on the Intel web site lots of ethernet controller drivers to download but how do I know which one to go for please? I am a total amateur at this - blundering atround in the dark and likely to do more harm than good without guidance!!!"
The processor is an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPUand the properties of the Ethernet Contolloer show on the details tab Device Instance Id PCI\VEN_8086&DEV1039&SUBSYS_30118086&REV_81\4&2AFR9ED5&0&40F0
Can anyone help please?

If it is an onboard NIC(ethernet controller integrated on the board), you can just check the motherboard model, if it is an Intel motheroboard, just go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com http://downloadcenter.intel.com and look for the driver based on the motherboard model.
