Problem
(a) I can not access the Internet from a Dell Optiplex 760 using Suse 11.0.
(b) I am a novce in this context.
Background
Card: Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet (Intel WG82567LM LOM)
Interface: 82566DM Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000
The setup should be trouble free: http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_(Wired)
Running (as root) netdriverinfo.sh gives the following output:
: 00:19.0
Make/Model = Dell Device 027f
Ethernet controller = Intel Corporation Device 10de
VenID:DevID = 8086:10de
Driver name = No driver loaded
Driver version = No driver loaded
Executing (as root) find /lib/modules/ -name e1000* gives nothing.
Installing (as root) e1000e-0.5.18.3.tar.gz gives an error message:
Makefile:70: *** Linux kernel source not found in any of these locations:
Makefile:71: [BLANK]
Manually I managed to find the following file created on 22 August 2008:
/lib/modules/2.6.25.16-0.1-pae/kernel/drivers/net/e1000e/e1000e.ko
Questions
Do I miss something? What is the next step?

Solution
(a) make sure the kernel source is installed (this was not done automatically installing from a DVD)
(b) compile and load the driver
