Hi Support team,

While testing throughput test on 10G Fortville Nic(XL710) we are observing fluctuations in throughput. From below intel document I have understood that there will be a reasonable fluctuations during the test, so can you please confirm how much percentage of fluctuations can be expected.

Hello MSaiK2,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Can you share us your output for us to check?

Let me also check if you are using on-board NIC?

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hi Michael,

We cannot share the output due to NDA agreement.

Can you please let us know what is meant by on-board NIC?

Hello MSaiK2,

It will be hard for us to determine if the fluctuations that you are getting is still within the range if there is no data for us to analyze. So the only details that we can still provide is the one from the link that you provided.

On-board NIC is a Network card embedded in the motherboard.

If you have questions, please let us know.

Hi Michael,

We are observing throughput variance from 83% to 92%, when you tested have you seen such huge difference ?

and our's is not a on board NIC.

Hi Michael,

It's hard to get photograph of the NIC as our lab is in different location, if it's mandatory then we will try to get but it will take couple of days.Meanwhile if you need any CLI output we will try to provide from the node.

Hello MSaiK2,

You may also try to generate SSU. Please download the System Support Utility from the link below, and attach a log file for us to investigate this issue.

1- Download from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

2- Open SSU.exe

3- Mark the box "Everything" and then click "Scan".

4- When finished scanning, click "Next".

5- Click on "Save" and attach the file to a post.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Michael.

Our system will not support downloads from external sources, so we have requested for photographs of the NIC and it will take one or two days to get,

please find some testing details and information of the NIC,

NIC: Ethernet Controller X710 for 10GbE SFP+

Frame Size : 650

Packet sent: Forward-GTPU, Reverse Forward - IPv4

for above configuration we tested for 10 iterations and out of 10 iterations 5 iterations will be 84% line rate and other 5 iterations will be 92% line rate.

So when you tested for the same configurations how much tolerance you have seen and how much tolerance is acceptable?

Hello M SaiKrishna,

Thank you fro the reply.

We understand that your system does not support external sources. While we are waiting for the photos of the NIC, can you share if you are referring to a single system? You've mentioned on your initial post that the NIC is 10G Fortville Nic(XL710). However, on the provided details above it is Ethernet Controller X710 for 10GbE SFP+. Please confirm if this is part of your testing, to use different systems and NIC to observe the fluctuations. If yes, please share the operating system used and model of the systems.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi Michael,

We are checking with concerned team but to get photographs they need to get some approvals and need to go through organization policies so this process might take a bit of time.
