Receive side scaling

Hi,

I have few clarifications on the Receive side scaling (RSS) setting in a Windows 7 OS. I want to disable the RSS because it gives some performance issues, so executed the command "netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled" and when I checked at the Network adapter properties, I still see the Recieve side scaling is enabled.

1. I would like to understand the difference between setting the RSS disabled using the command and disabling the same using the Network adapter properties. (How it works, which takes priority)

2. Is there any known issues if the RSS is disabled using the command line.

please share any info on this topic.

Appreciate your help!

Regards,

Prabu

Hi Prabu,

Good day. As an additional information, In order to make the RSS work, enable or disable the option in both via command and network adapter property. You may refer to the Microsoft* website for reference (please note this is third party website in which Intel has no control, for your reference only).

The Network adapter model is "Intel(R) 82576 Gigabit Dual Port Network Connection" and "Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter".

The board is the customized 3rd party.

The driver version used is v19.1

Hi Prabu, The netsh command would disable the RSS service within windows while turning it off in the adapter properties would disable the service in the driver.

Hope this helps.
