Hello Intel Community,
When reading the Intel XL710 datasheet (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/release-notes/xl710-ethernet-controller-feature-matrix.pdf), I discovered a new compatibility with SX/LX SFP.
Can someone confirm that it is really possible and what are the compatible SFP model ? I can't find that answer on Intel website.
Thanks !
Regards,
ptitoliv

Hello OBonh,
Thank you for the patience on this matter.
Please be informed that XL710 only comes with QSFP+ cage. Please visit the link below for XL710 product brief:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ethernet-products/converged-network-adapters/ethernet-xl710-brief.html
If you wish to use SFP modules, select X710 adapters instead. For the list of compatible SFP modules, kindly visit the link below:

Hello CrisselleC,
Thanks for your answer. But there is something that is not clear for me.
On the Feature Matrix PDF document, it is explicitely said that some SFP are now supported. So can you give me some clarifications about that point ?
Thanks a lot

Hello poliv13,
Thank you for the patience on this matter.
SFP SX/LX are specific to 1G. Basically they are the optical fibre versions for Gigabit Ethernet. SX – short distance MM. LX – long distance SM. On the Feature Matrix PDF document, it is listed that the SFP SX/LX device is under 1GbE Media Supported section. With this, SX/LX support in feature matrix starts on SW 22.6 is just to show it supports 1GbE media but there's no "new" compatible SFP model for X710 aside from the E10GSFPSR and E10GSFPLR dual rate modules.
Let us know if this information address your question.
