Settings for Intel Pro/100 VE ntwork adapter

My PC (HP Media PC M7183C) came with the above adapter. My ISP is Comcast and I am paying for their Blast service which is supposed to give me at least 105 mbps.

Running a speed test I am getting download speeds in the low 70 mbps. I had a Comcast tech come to my home and he connected his laptop to my network and he was able to achieve speeds well in excess of the 105 mbps. His indication to me is that perhaps my network card is not functioning correctly or the settings for the card need to be changed. The driver version I am running is 8.0.47.0 which is dated 12/6/07.

Are there actually settings that could be changed for this adapter or is it possibly too old to achieve a faster download speed or should it be replaced?

Hi ipulwer,

Thank you for the post. The pro 100 VE is a 100mbps network adapter, the maximum bandwidth can be achieved is 100 mbps. You can try adjusting some setting at the advance property of your network adapter to increase the bandwdith but the maximum bandwidth is 100mbps ( it can be lower still sometimes) , please refer to http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-025841.htm Network Connectivity — Advanced Settings for Intel® Ethernet 10/100 and Gigabit Adapters (but this is for reference since it also depends on the network and not all parameter are applicable).

We no longer provided newer driver for this network adapter since this adapter is an end of interactive support product, you may refer to this website for the announcement http://www.intel.com/support/network/adapter/pro100/pro100ve/sb/CS-025673.htm Intel® PRO/100 VE Desktop Adapter — End of Interactive Support Announcement

Hope this clarifies.
