Support for untested SFP+ modules on X710

Is there any chance on an updated linux i40e driver which will allow to accept untested SPF+ modules? The list of supported 10GbE optics for the X710 is very very limited. Intel only offers a LR and SR optics. In our case we need WDM optics LR, ER, ZR.

Hi Fabian,

Thank you for the post. It is recommended still to use supported modules of Intel, we cannot comment on untested modules.

Unfortunately this doesn't answer the question. I am aware which modules are supported by the X710 which is also mentioned in my opening post.

I'm not asking for Intel to comment on untested modules or to provide support on them. I'm only asking if there will be a driver option in the future to allow unsupported sfp's just like with the ixgbe driver. 'options ixgbe allow_unsupported_sfp=1'

Or is intel going to manufacture a wider range of SFP modules ?

Hi Fabian,

Thank you for the reply. We have not receive any update about providing driver to allow unsupported sfp or wider range for SFP modules.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks,
