TX packets loss when frame size is multiple of 4 bytes under full load on 82599

Hello,

When run RFC2544 throughput test under full load(total 4 x 10GbE ports on 2 x 82599ES NICs on E5 2697v3 Server) with Spirent TestCenter, we increased frame size by 1 byte step from 64 bytes to 1518 bytes.

There is an issue as titled, TX packets loss when frame size is multiple of 4 bytes, the attached is a test report(from Page 11).

If any idea for this issue?

It is a standalone NIC, the model is

• Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection

The 82599ES worked with guest OS, details as following,

• Host OS(WindRiver OS): Linux 3.10.84-ovp-rt89-r9_preempt-rt
• KVM/QEMU: version 2.2.0
• Guest OS: CentOS(Kernel 3.4.103)
• Driver: igb_uio.ko(DPDK-1.7.1)

Thank you for the information. If it a standalone 82599ES network adapter, can you provide the exact model .e.g X520-SR1, SR2 or DA2? Please provide the serial number, you can locate the information on the white sticker on the network adapter (not on the box). I hadn't checked on the frame size, btw, I confused on frame size checking, the dropped frames with fixed size when run RFC2544 test. I have read the datasheet, but I didn't find a reasonable explanation to this issue. Could you give me more details to check on frame size based on the datasheet? Thanks again.
