My Gateway DX (windows 7) went down, and when I tried to get back online, it said: "The wired network adapter is experiencing problems" and I clicked for more information the message said: "The Intel(R)82579LM gigabit network connection adapter is experiencing driver--or harware--related problems. Help!

I went on Gateway's support and went on chat and descibed the problem and I downloaded LAN driver they gave me: (Lan_inter_11.8.74_w . . . )--says not compatable with Microsoft. Starting to be a horror show. I think a power surge is the cause.
