Since I don't trust all those crappy onboard Realteks, I would like to get a real card in my PC. The trouble is I can't seem to choose one. Local shops have some, but it's quite confusing, I can't tell the differences - and Intel web is totally confusing (at least for me ). And to make things a bit more complicated, the PRO/1000 PT adapter is discontinued now. Could someone recommend me PCI-e gigabit adapter please?

Thanks. Are there any major differences? Not like it matters, but I am curious.

it uses a different controller chipset, that's based on low-power.
normally, desktop adapters doesn't support teaming, but this one can.
here's the link to the adapter overview http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/adapters/gigabit-ct/gigabit-ct-overview.htm http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/adapters/gigabit-ct/gigabit-ct-overview.htm
