Why PROSet Utility says that there's no Intel adapters?

I have server with these adapters:

2x on-board "Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection"

1x PCIe "Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter"

OS: Windows Server 2012 R2 EN

All adapters work fine with drivers included in Windows.

Now I need VLAN finctionality on "CT" adapter. I suppose that I need drivers from Intel download site. Am I right?

Ok, I've downloaded newest drivers 24.* (file "PROWinx64.exe"). "CT" adapter is in list of compatibles adapters.

But during install I get a message "No Intel(R) Adapter present on computer".

I've tried version 24.* and 23.* both only Windows and complete packages.

"Update driver" from Device manager does not work too. It says that driver is already up to date.

What is wrong, where to look?

PS. Have not tried to use pnputil yet. Should I?

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities. 

In Windows 2012, CT desktop adapter has inbox support only. It does not include Intel® PROSet for Windows* Device Manager and Intel® Advanced Network Services (Intel® ANS) driver for teaming and VLANS.

Sorry for late answer.

I've seen this page before but did not quite understand what "in-box support" means.

Does it mean that driver is supplied only with OS itself without any special features like VLAN, etc. ?

Hello VYuma,

Not a problem at all.

You are right. The driver is provided by OS and it doesn't include Intel® PROSet for Windows* Device Manager and Intel® ANS driver for teaming and VLANs. And also, the drivers can't be updated using automated or manual methods.
