Why is this update showing in Win 10 and not via the Intel Driver update app running on my computer?

Hi Jonzn4suse,

Thank you for waiting for our update.

After analyzing the logs that you have provided, please see our below findings for your concern:

1. The driver version that Windows is prompting to install is the official HP driver based on the support site of the laptop, https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-zbook-17-g3-mobile-workstation/8693765. Since your laptop is HP, HP may have also released their drivers into Windows updates so that is the reason why you are being prompted to install it.

Additionally, it is highly recommended that you use the HP released driver as our drivers may not properly work with the Firmware (FW) version HP applied on the card and it may affect performance, feature availability and system stability.

2. We also noticed that the version that you have is not the most recent one. Our most recent driver update can be found here, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22283/Intel-Ethernet-Adapter-Complete-Driver-Pack?product=82185. Although, as mentioned above it would be best if use HP’s drivers.

We look forward to your reply. Should we not get your reply, we will follow up after three business days.

Hi Jonzn4suse,

Thank you for waiting for our findings.

While we were closely checking your concern, we find the need to get a more extensive look on your system configuration.

1. To better assist you, we need to get some logs from your system. It will tell us the different driver version and components installed on your system. Please download and run our Intel® System Support Utility from this page, https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-. After running it, you will be given an option to save the logs to a text file, please do so and attach the file on your reply.

We look forward to your reply. Should we not get your reply, we will follow up after three business days.

Thanks for the update.

If the version of the Intel Driver app is not up to date, I thought it would alert me with a pop up or when I visit the site it would show that there is a new version.  Interesting...

Oh well, thanks again.

I forgot to ask... Why would you offer the above update and your app not show this update on the update website for my laptop?  ;-))
