Windows 10 with Intel i219-lm Lenovo L480 is having slow upload speed

I use Lenovo L480 in my office, Download speed is touching over 100mbps while the upload speed is not even crossing 4mbps.

Machine is tested with Both Auto negotiation and 100Mbps Full duplex, same result.

Disabled IPV4 LS0v2 & IPV6 LS0v2, same result.

All the issue is in Wired connection only, WiFi able to get 70+mbps Upload speed.

Tested in various other Ethernet Adapters like Realtek & Broadcom. No issues observed in upload.

Only in Intel Based NIC we are facing Slow upload speeds less than 5mbps.

Hello SChan127,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities. Please provide the details below for us to check on your query.

1.) SSU log

Please download the System Support Utility from the link below, and attach a log file. This will allow us to check your Adapter details and configuration.

a- Download from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

b- Open SSU.exe

c- Mark the box "Everything" and then click "Scan".

d- When finished scanning, click "Next".

e- Click on "Save" and attach the file to a post.

2.) Have you tried updating the driver to latest version?

3.) Have you tried performing clean install of the driver?

4.) Is this a newly built/purchased system?

5.) When was the slow upload speed first encountered?

Looking forward to your response.

Cris,

I downloaded and executed the SSU, Uploaded the Scan File,

  1. Driver is upto date , Downloaded from here --> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25016/Ethernet-Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=82185
  2. We have reinstalled 3-4 times and using MSDN - Windows 10 1803 Vennila image without any of our organisation customization. Its same in New (Lenovo l480) & Old systems as welll Dell latitude E5270, Dell Optiplex 3040
  3. Its reported last week and we are still investigating,
  4. However on ground machines with Realtek, Broadcom are working fine and Having Min 80 % of Upload speed, means if 100mbps, 80Mbps upload speed,.
  5. In Intel Wired connection we are seeing less than 10 % of the upload speed.

Hello SChan127,

Thank you for the patience on this matter. Please find our findings below:

1.) We would like to inform you that this is an Ethernet controller that's embedded with Lenovo system. For OEM on-board Ethernet controller, it would be best if you can get in touch with Lenovo for further support since they have customized drivers and software to enable or alter features on your system. They are in best position where you can seek assistance so you don’t lose features or customization of the Ethernet controller. There might also be the same issue reported to them that are encountered by another user. Please visit this link for Support Options for Intel® Ethernet Controllers:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006628/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html

2.) Upon checking on the SSU log provided, the driver installed on your system (12.17.10.7) is not latest(12.18.9.2) version from Intel generic driver. Please perform clean installation of the driver and install the latest driver from Lenovo.

The following are the steps on how perform a clean driver installation for any Intel® Ethernet Controller:

a. Open Windows* Device Manager:

Windows® 10: Right-click Start > Device Manager

b. Double-click Network adapters to expand the section.

c. Right-click the Intel® Ethernet Connection (model) and select Properties.

d. Click the Driver tab.

e. Click Uninstall.

f. Check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK.

7. Press the Windows key + R, then type "%Temp%" (without the quotation marks) delete everything from that folder, then install the latest driver from Lenovo.

3.) Based on the SSU log, the BIOS version installed on your system is 1.26. We have managed to check Lenovo website and found the 1.33 BIOS version. Have you tried updating the BIOS to its latest version?

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/my/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-l-series-laptops/thinkpad-l480-type-20ls-20lt/downloads

4.) You might also want to try the latest driver from Intel thru the link below and check if it would make any difference.

Looking forward to your response.
