Fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop on my workstation.

I have

  • Eth0 Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection
  • Eth1 Intel 82574L Gigabit Network Connection

Installed the latest (3.3.3) drivers https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/15817/Network-Adapter-Driver-for-PCI-E-Gigabit-Network-Connections-under-Linux- Download Network Adapter Driver for PCI-E* Gigabit Network Connections under Linux* by unpacking, make, sudo make install, modprobe with reboot.

Wired internet doesn't seem to work.

Cable is showed as visual plugged but is displayed disconnected (keeps reconnecting)

Installing version 2.5.4 with same results

/etc/network/interfaces:

auto lo

iface lo inet loopback

Thanks in advance!!

Hi tommyboy14,

Please check on the https://downloadmirror.intel.com/15817/eng/README https://downloadmirror.intel.com/15817/eng/README regarding the

Building and Installation note.

NOTE:

For certain distributions like (but not limited to) RedHat Enterprise

Linux 7 and Ubuntu, once the driver is installed the initrd/initramfs

file may need to be updated to prevent the OS loading old versions

of the e1000e driver. The dracut utility may be used on RedHat

distributions:

# dracut --force

For Ubuntu:

# update-initramfs -u

rgds,

Hello WB,

Sorry, I forgot to mention. I already did that, no effect.

Hi Tommyboy14,

Please check with the board vendor for customized driver for this onboard NIC on the system to see if this will make any difference.

thanks,
