X550-T2 jumbo frame supported in Win10

Dear Sir

The X550-T2 NIC mentioned the maximum jumbo frame is 15.5K, I already verify this feature in Ubuntu Linux by an industrial camera without packet loss.

Are there any updates with the drivers of X550-T2 or any instructions to enable 15.5k jumbo frame in Win10? Thanks.

Hello WChan5,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Before we check your query, kindly provide the following information that would help with the investigation.

1. PBA of the adapter. You may refer to the link below on where to find the PBA number. It consist of 6-3 digit number located at the last part of the serial number. This would help us identify if you are using an Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) or retail version of Intel Ethernet Adapter.

Identify Your Intel® Network Adapter Model Using PBA Number

2. Current driver used

3. Have you tried checking on the Advanced properties of X550-T2 if you can enable the 15.5k jumbo frame?

We look forward to your reply.

Should there be no response from you, we will follow up after 3 business days.

Dear Sir

Thanks for your reply.

Please find the attachment including PBA number, driver I used, and advanced properties of Jumbo Packet.

There has no 15.5k jumbo frame option on the advanced page.

Hello WChan5,

Thank you for the patience on this matter.

Please refer to below information for the update from our engineers. Feel free to let us know if you have additional questions or clarifications.

Question: How to enable 15.5K Jumbo Frame?

Answer: The only way to enable Jumbo Packet is via device properties. In the device properties, there is a Jumbo Packet item in the Advanced tap, and then enable Jumbo Packet by selecting the Jumbo Packet sizes (4088 Bytes and 9014 Bytes) on the drop-down menu.

Important Note: As described in the datasheet, once some other functions are enabled, the maximum packet size of Jumbo Packet is limited to 9.5KB (9014 Byte payload + other information in the Jumbo packet).

The 9014B packet size is usually a common maximum value to MTU(Maximum Transmission Unit) of an Ethernet port, others that are over 9014KB can be considered as Super Jumbo Packet. Performance and latency may be impacted by the increase in MTU.

Looking forward to your reply.

We will follow up after 3 business days in case we don't hear from you.

Dear Sir

Thanks for your reply.

According to the Jumbo Packet is limited to 9.5KB because some other functions are enabled.

Could you help to provide what are those functions by screenshot to enable 16K jumbo frame, thanks.

Dear Sir

hhans and WChan5 are in the same division of the company.

Please share what are those functions enabled that limited the Jumbo Packet to 9.5KB.

Could you help to provide what are those functions by screenshot to enable 16K jumbo frame in Win10, thanks.

Hello Hans,

How are you doing? I hope everything is great!

We sincerely apologize for the delay on our update as we tried to look for the information that would help on your inquiry.

We regret to inform you that we do not have information on configuring super jumbo frames. However, you may consider looking for more information from other sites which you can use as reference.

Guidance from CISCO/switch configuration online regarding Super Jumbo Frames.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-6000-series-switches/24048-148.html

Unfortunately, achieving Super Jumbo frame is not as easy to enable and we believe that limited enterprise class switches can support super jumbo frames. We also recommend to check with your switch manufacturer if it supports jumbo frames.

Feel free to let us know if you have additional questions or clarifications.

In case we don't hear from you, we will proceed closing this request. If you need any additional information, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
