Hello,
I have a couple question about the X710-BM2 Ethernet Controller.
1. Can the X710-BM2 support connectivity with the 88E6393X Ethernet Switch over PCB? The switch supports the following 10 Gigabit interfaces: USXGMII, SFI and 10GBASE-R. Note this is not 10GBASE-KR which is what is specified for X710-BM2.
2. Can the connectivity of 10G over PCB be supported with no additional components?

Hello kh12,
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
Regarding your question:
1. Intel® Ethernet Controller X710-BM2 does not support 10GBASE-R. Since the interfaces are different there might be compatibility issues. Below is a link for Intel® Ethernet Controller X710-BM2 and you can also find the datasheet on the ethernet. Since their interface is different, to connect the X710-BM2 to the 88E6393X Ethernet switch, you may need an external media converter or a transceiver module that can convert the X710-BM2's 10GBASE-KR interface to the appropriate interface supported by the switch. Please contact the support center for 88E6393X Ethernet Switch as well to check the compatibility with them as well.
Specifications and Datasheet:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/93098/intel-ethernet-controller-x710bm2.html
2. Since Intel® Ethernet Controller X710-BM2 also supports 10G the connectivity over PCB should be able to support without any additional components
Please let us know the outcome after you have checked it and will be happy to assist if any other troubleshooting required for this issue.
Best regards,
Hayat

Hi kh12,
Regarding your questions:
1. Since the ethernet and switch have different interface to check both SFI compatibility over PCB with some AC coupling, you might need to get the Switch datasheet as well and make a comparison between its compatibility.
2. There are few of device that can be used such as transceiver or media converter.
3. Based on the ethernet datasheet, 10GBASE-KR is IEEE.802.3-2018 and based on the screenshot provided it is IEEE.802.3-2008.
This is the site where you can find the Intel® Ethernet Controller X710-BM2 datasheet.
I would also highly suggest that you posted your questions further below to help you get deeper understanding on this issue. As the issue will be needing more internal information to be provided.
