We have Dell R740 servers that only have multiple X710 quad sfp+ cards installed. We need to make a connection to a nexus switch that has 1gb copper ports. Is this possible? Are there compatible 1000base-t (copper) sfp modules that can be used in the X710 sfp+ cage and run at 1gb. Thanks

Hello Njone8,
Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities. To fully answer this question we would need to know if this is a Intel retail adapter or an OEM adapter. if the adapters came with the Dell R740 they are likely an OEM Dell model. Please provide the markings on the product label for confirmation. We can provide the modules for the Intel adapter, but you would have to contact Dell if these are OEM. See the bottom of page 10 of the feature matrix for details:

Hi Daniel, thanks for your reply. When we purchased the servers, the part numbers for the X710 was '540-BBHQ Intel X710 Quad Port 10Gb Direct Attach, SFP+, Converged Network Adapter'. Does this mean they are in fact Dell OEM models. If they are, would the adapters listed on Page 10 of the link you provided still be applicable? Thanks

Hello Njone8,
Thank you for the reply. We can confirm if this is an OEM adapter with the markings on the product label. If the adapter is a Dell OEM, Dell will likely specify modules to meet their own compatibility. We would recommend checking with Dell if these are OEM. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
