XXV710 and SFP28 module link is not detected

Hi, 

I am using XXV710-AM2 card with SFP28 modules. I am not able to establish a link. I tried to debug using ethtool and dmesg commands. I see the following output. Any help? 

1. The following is the dmesg output when I do rmmod and modprobe the i40e module.

We are sorry to hear about the issue that you are experiencing with your network adapter.

We need to get more context on your issue to determine what would be our best recommendations to address your inquiry. Please answer the following questions:

1. Was this combination of the LAN adapter and SFP28 module working before?

2. Our retail ethernet version of XXV710 cards such as the XXV710-DA2 are only compatible with Intel SFP modules https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023708/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html. Since your card is customized by fs, you may need to get in touch with them to see if they have the same guidelines or requirements on their cards or if they have a firmware update that could allow third party SFPs to become inoperable with the card.


We would like to hear your thoughts regarding this. We look forward to hearing from you. If we do not get your reply, we will follow up after 3 business days.

Hi,

I am trying it for the first time. It didn't work before.

I have been talking to the FS. They gave some suggestions on switching off the auto-negotiation to make it work, but it seems not working. 

ethtool -s enp1s0f0 speed 25000 duplex full autoneg off
Cannot set new settings: Invalid argument
  not setting speed
  not setting duplex
  not setting autoneg

what is sfp?

SFP is the acronym for small form-factor pluggable transceiver. To describe simply, it is a tiny transceiver capable of sending and receiving data over optical fiber. It’s a telecommunications and data communication system’s tiny optical transceiver module. It aids in the seamless conversion of Ethernet signals into optical signals for data transmission and reception. Furthermore, the SFP module is hot-swappable, making it simple to modify an existing network without having to rewire the entire cable infrastructure.

How to Choose Compatible SFP?

There are many factors to choose compatible SFP: the connector type, such as SC, ST, or LC; the mode is single mode or multi mode; the wavelength, such as 1550nm, 1310nm, or 850nm; the speed, such as 10Gbps, 40Gbps.
