I have seached extensively to find out why the 'ethtool -i eth' command returns a hex value for the 'firmware-version' string and, how I can check that firmware version to see if it is current or outdated. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hi gmd2016,
Thank you for posting your query in Wired Ethernet Communities.
Please share the Intel(R) 10Gbps Ethernet model and PBA# (6-3 digit number) found in the barcode label of your physical network adapter. Kindly refer to the link specific to "Identify your adapter using the barcode label" for sample PBA# .
