Hi,
Here is a discussion that may help you: http://seclists.org/tcpdump/2010/q2/95 tcpdump: Re: [RFC PATCH 0/2]: hw timestamp support
Intel 82580 Gigabit Ethernet Controller is able to timestamp PTP TX packets...
By the way, Does anyone know from which model of intel NIC hardware timestamping for RX packets is possible ?
Is it Intel 82580 Gigabit Ethernet Controller like discussed here: http://seclists.org/tcpdump/2010/q2/95 tcpdump: Re: [RFC PATCH 0/2]: hw timestamp support

NIC which supports IEEE-1588 (v2?) should support hardware timestamping.
Here you can get an introduction to IEEE 1588:
/community/wired/blog/2011/07/07/ieee-1588-update http://communities.intel.com/community/wired/blog/2011/07/07/ieee-1588-update
It is said at the end: "The current Intel controllers supporting IEEE 1588 are the Intel® 82574, 82576, and 82580 Gigabit Ethernet Controllers, the Intel® 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, and Intel® Ethernet Controller I350."
But does anyone know where to find an exhaustive list of NIC which support hardware timestamping ?
thanks for your help
