I've been watching this go nowhere since October 2015, so I thought maybe someone could shed some light on why Intel is now a half year out from releasing a chipset they don't have driver support for? Specifically, I'm referencing FreeBSD drivers for i219, of which this thread on the Dev forums keeps getting the "it's coming" canard...

So, can anyone comment on this? Maybe we'll see support before Cannonlake...

Vince, thank you for checking into it. To help, I did some digging of which you're getting help:
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=206533 206533 – Intel I219-V in 11-CURRENT and 10-STABLE
This appears to be open, but only superficially as they have CLOSED the underlying job on the Phabricator:

Maybe your team will know when it can be had as a standalone package...
