iSCSI Acceleration with LACP

Hi,

I'm using Intel 82599EB based onboard dual ports 10Gbps NIC with Solaris x86/x64. I do aggregation of both ports with LACP. Refering to http://download.intel.com/design/network/prodbrf/321731.pdf http://download.intel.com/design/network/prodbrf/321731.pdf, it see that Intel 82599 family chipset support iSCSI acceleration. Is this acceleration still work on LACP aggregation? What is the best MTU, Tx/Rx queueing numbers and Tx/Rx ring buffer size for having best iSCSI performance in this situation?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_aggregation Link Aggregation Control Protocol).

There are many articles on the web that detail tuning for different types of environments. There really is no 1 setting for all to get optimal performance. It really depends on many factors.

The answer to your question about iSCSI acceleration working with LACP is yes, the iSCSI acceleration will still work with LACP. However, if I read between the lines I suspect that you are really looking for the best way to combine your two 10GbE links to speed up your iSCSI transfers. If that is the case, I would suggest that you not use LACP but rather IP Multipathing (IPMP http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/systems-hardware-architecture/ha-rac-networking-ipmp-168440.pdf http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/systems-hardware-architecture/ha-rac-networking-ipmp-168440.pdf ). The best source of information about configuring and tuning Solaris are of course the experts at Oracle. I would suggest that you contact your Oracle support folks, visit Oracle's Technology Network (where Big Admin used to live) at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/systems/index.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/systems/index.html or search the web for Oracle whitepapers and blogs.
