Hello,
I have an 82599 and i want to enable XAUI operation mode.
In the datasheet it's said that it could be forced by software by manipulating AUTOC registers...
Is it possible to manipulate those registers throw a utility ? or should i modify the driver and add a functionnality for this ?
Thank you.

Hello @jackbar13,
Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.
1) Please advise if you are using custom board or with which brand/OEM system board?
2) Linux distribution: 6.5-rc3 kernel is working on which Debian Trixie? May I also inquire on which ixgbe drivers that you tested with?
3) Ethtool -i
4) Ethtool -k or sudo ethtool -k <interface_name>
Thank you.
Best regards,

Hi @B_Y
1) I'm using two Intel PC's (server board) on which both of them have Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection and i want to communicate with FPGA which supports only 8b/10b.
2) I'm using Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and ixgbe 5.19.0-46-generic SMP preempt mod_unload modversions (?).

Hello @jackbar13,
Thank you for your patience.
After thorough research, we're unable to find the tool to manipulate those registers on Datasheet, page# 110: "3.7.1.1 XAUI Operating Mode"
Normally, Ethernet support representative will suggest user to a dedicated forum for questions on tools and embedded networking connectivity.
Based on the comments at Embedded , it may seem the next direction require registration on Premier account, steps as following: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058073/programs/resource-and-documentation-center.html
We hope this clarifies matters for you.
