recommending a config for a 2 node S2D cluster (W2019). Direct connect of NIC is supported by MS. Questions: 1. Can I direct connect two X722DA4FH cards with a copper DAC cable? 2. Can I connect more than one port/NIC to give 20, 30, or 40GB connection?

Hello GRobe,

Thank you for the patience on this matter.

1.) We've tried to use DAC cable in the lab for 10Gb back-to-back connection. Please be informed that Intel® Ethernet Network Adapter X722 only supports 10GbE connectivity.

Please visit the link below and scroll down to Features>SFP+ Connectitivity for more details.

2.) Regarding your question number 2, we'd like to verify if you are referring to Teaming configuration.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello GRobe,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Yes it is working. However, can you share the intended configuration so we can further investigate on this?

For teaming, please provide the exact model of the intended adapters to be used.

We look forward to your reply.

Should there be no response from you, we'll reach out after 3 business days.

want to use two R1208WFTYS with config: Dual Xeon Silver 4208, 192GB RAM, Single 480GB M.2 Boot, 4 x 4TB P4510 NVMe SSD, VROC, RPS, 2 x 10GbE Base-T, 4 x 10GbE SFP+ (RDMA), Remote Management, Rail Kit running Windows 2019 DC Software Spaces Direct. Plan is to direct connect the two nodes using a DAC between them connecting two X722-DA4 ports.

Also if a customer wants 20GB, 30GB or 40GB between nodes in the future can he connect the ports together and "bond" the connections - sorry am in Sales - is that what you call "teaming"?

Hello GRobe,

No problem at all. We totally understand that you are in sales so we will do our best to explain our answer in a simple way.

Please share what is the intended use of the server? Regarding your question if you would connect more than one port/NIC to give 20, 30, or 40GB connection. Unfortunately, the X722-DA4 is only capable of 10GbE connection. You may refer to the link below for more information regarding teaming.
