Hello Wjs_9576,

Thank you for posting in Intel Wired Ethernet Communities. Please provide additional information, as OEM adapters use different firmware. Is this an Intel retail adapter or an OEM adapter? Please use the following https://www.intel.com/content/www/xa/en/support/articles/000005584/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html link to provide more information if you cannot find OEM information. Also let us know what operating system you are using for further guidance. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Daniel,

I think it is an Intel retail adapter, not oem adapter。for we can see this--

82:00.0 "Ethernet controller" "Intel Corporation" "82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection" -r01 "Intel Corporation" "Ethernet Server Adapter X520-2"

82:00.1 "Ethernet controller" "Intel Corporation" "82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection" -r01 "Intel Corporation" "Ethernet Server Adapter X520-2"

and the attached is the machine information.

and operating system is "CentOS Linux release 7.1.1503"

Hello Wjs_9576,

Please provide the ethtool -i output and ethtool output. We will be able to see what firmware is currently being used, and verify the adapter is an Intel retail adapter.

If we confirm this is an Intel adapter, the retail Intel X520 firmware cannot be updated. Do you require an update to resolve an issue?

Best regards,

Daniel D

Hello Wjs_9576,

Thank you for the outputs. please provide an output of lspci -nn | grep -i . We want to confirm the devID to cross reference our retail adapters. A MAC address from ifconfig would also be helpful.

Best regards,

Hello Wjs_9576,

I can confirm that this is an Intel retail adapter. Firmware for the X520 adapter cannot be changed. Is there an issue you are trying to resolve with a firmware update? There is currently an updated driver in this https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/14687/Ethernet-Intel-Network-Adapter-Driver-for-PCIe-Intel-10-Gigabit-Ethernet-Network-Connections-Under-Linux-?product=69658 link, you are using version 3.9.17.

Hello Wjs_9576,

The firmware version includes other information such as etrack-ID. We will try to find more information to explain exactly what the digits mean for the X520. Please provide the ethtool -i for the second X520 adapter. We will provide an update as soon as possible. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hello Wjs_9576,

Thank you for the outputs. Please provide the markings from the product label on each adapter. The following https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000007060/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html link will show you what to look for. This can be an image if it will be more convenient. This will help us identify the differences between the adapters that would include the firmware. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
