If this card is branded Dell then it is hardware ID
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1528&SUBSYS_50038086&REV_01
In that case it can have firmware upgraded by this update Intel http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=F8H29 NIC Family Version 17.0.0 Firmware for I350, I354, X520, and X540 adapters
But I have a couple of RETAIL units that present hardware ID
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1528&SUBSYS_00018086&REV_01
They can not be upgraded by above update, they also strangely present current version of firmware 0.0.0 (surely could not be the case?)
Is there a way to upgrade firmware for retail cards?
Seb

Hi scerazy,
Thank you for contacting Intel.
As of the moment, we do not have firmware update for Intel X520 Series Retail Card as we do not encounter issues with it. The firmware update from Dell* is to fix some issues with the affected adapter models.
Hope I was able to address your concern.
Sincerely,
Sandy

I'm having an issue with my x540-T2 as well. I have 3 of them and the one in the case with the lowest temperatures keeps shutting down. Performance /throughput seems erratic as well. I'd like to try a firmware update or find out the warranty / rma options for it as it is NOT a cheap card.

hi boe_d,
We do not have firmware update for X540-T2.
With regards to RMA, If it is an OEM Dell X540-T2, you may contact Dell* for warranty support. If it is an Intel retail version X540-T2, the warranty is limited lifetime, you may refer to the link for reference: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products/000007227.html Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty for Network and I O

I just want to confirm there are no current firmware upgrades for the Intel converged networks adapter x540-t2 as of 10/17/16. I installed the nic in a HPE Cloudline server and want to ensure there is not firmware updates for this adapter. Thanks
