Hi,
We will break this query into 3 parts:
Fast and typical variants of x710 are mentioned in the datasheet (Table13-2,13.4,13.4.1,Table 13-9,Table 13-10 etc..)
Please give the difference between fast and typical units
Also please share the part number guide for x710. In our application we are planning to use dual 10G base-KR. (We are assuming this is x710-BM2)
The fast and typical variants are showing VCCD voltage of 0.85 and 0.92 respectively. We are planning to use 0.92V for VCCD. Will this work for both fast and slow/typical unit.
We are also seeing differences between schematic checklist(fortville-schematic-checklist-v-1-5) and datasheet (332464_710_Series_Datasheet_v_4_1) for x710. Please advise us regarding which document to use as the primary reference.
Also there are many hidden rows in schematic checklist. The visible rows are also only partially visible. Please share the proper version of the checklist (document name given above).
Please advise on where to connect RSVDU16_VCC. In one section of the datasheet, it is recommended to connect to VCCD (2.3 Package layout) and in another section it is recommended to connect to VCCA (Table 2-16 : last row). Please give the right information.
Thanks in advance

Hi amar4,
Greetings for the day!
Thank you for posting your query in the Intel community.
Query 1: Please provide the difference between fast and typical units.
- Fast Units: The fast unit mode of the X710 Ethernet adapter is optimized for low-latency and high-throughput applications. It focuses on minimizing packet processing time and maximizing data transfer rates. This mode is suitable for tasks that require fast data transmission and minimal delays, such as high-frequency trading, financial transactions, and real-time data processing.
- Typical Units: The typical unit mode of the X710 Ethernet adapter operates with a balanced configuration, offering a good balance between performance and power consumption. It is the default operating mode for the adapter and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including general networking, virtualization, cloud computing, and storage.
Query 2: Please provide the part number guide for the X710. In our application, we are planning to use dual 10G base-KR (assuming this is x710-BM2).
Could you please provide further details about your query? For reference, you can find the product details of the X710-BM2 Ethernet Adapter in the following URL:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/93098/intel-ethernet-controller-x710bm2.html
Additionally, the datasheet for the X710-BM2 can be found at the following URL:
https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getcontent/332464
Query 3: The fast and typical variants show VCCD voltages of 0.85 and 0.92, respectively. We are planning to use 0.92V for VCCD. Will this work for both fast and slow/typical units?
We have noticed differences between the schematic checklist (fortville-schematic-checklist-v-1-5) and the datasheet (332464_710_Series_Datasheet_v_4_1) for the X710. Please advise us on which document to use as the primary reference.
Additionally, there are several hidden rows in the schematic checklist, and the visible rows are only partially visible. Could you please provide the correct version of the checklist (document name given above)?
Please also advise on the proper connection for RSVDU16_VCC. In one section of the datasheet, it is recommended to connect it to VCCD (2.3 Package layout), while in another section, it is recommended to connect it to VCCA (Table 2-16: last row). Kindly provide the correct information.
Regarding Query 3 and the VCCD voltage switching, the schematic difference of the product and the detailed schematic checklist need to be addressed in the Intel Developer Zone. You can join the Intel Developer Zone using the link shared below:

Please let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.

Hi Vinay,
Regarding query 2, we want to check the product selection guide because ordering part number difference between fast and typical unit was not given anywhere. Please give clarity on this as we don't want to buy the fast unit. Normal unit is ok for us.
And with regard to query 3, should we raise query in the Product Support Forums of developer zone?
Thanks

Hi,
In IPS this product is not showing up under 'xl710' or 'Fortville' or 'x710'. Product have to be selected for submitting the case. Which product should we select.
Also in the shared embedded connectivity link, only 700 series adaptors are visible. controllers are not visible.
Kindly help on these points
Thanks
