Arria 10 - What happens when the TSD temperature exceeds 125 degrees Celcius?

Hi,

In my design I am making use of the internal TSD of the Arria 10 FPGA. According to it's specifications it supports a range of -40 to 125 degrees Celcius with an error of +/- 5 degrees.

What happens when the temperature exceeds 125 degrees? Will the ADC clip on 0x1FF?

Does anybody knows this?

Thank you for your support.

Cheers,

Danny

Hi Danny,

The Arria 10 Internal Temperature Sensing Diode is a built-in 10-bit ADC circuitry to monitor die temperature.

Basically, TSD is built to monitor die temperature only. Therefore, you need to design your own state machine to reset/switch off the device if TSD temperature exceeds 125°C.

Matt
