JESD Test Bench Simulation - no activity

Hello

I am using Quartus Prime Pro 22.4.0 on Windows and Questa Intel Starter FPGA-64 2022.1 on Windows.

The full path to my project is:

c:/jesd

and the project name is also "jesd".

The JESD204B IP that I created is called "my_j" and so the testbench resides at default directory:

c:/jesd/my_j_tb

The generation of HDL and Test-Bench from within the IP Parameter Editor was OK.

Note that I have configured JESD to match my specific board requirements.

Within Questa I am changing to directory:

c:/jesd/my_j_tb/my_j_tb/sim/mentor

and sourcing msim_setup.tcl

This proceeds to compile and elaborate without any errors.

However, when I run the simulation, there is no activity on any signals with the except of clocks and resets.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for any answers.

Hi David,

Thank you for your patience.

Allow me to clarify some of the items below:

Q1. May I know which device are you using for your project?

Q2. May I know are you using the example design or custom design? If you are using example design, which preset settings you are using?

Q3. Is there any message comes up when running simulation? Have you tried using a linux environment?

Looking forward to hear back from you so that we can proceed for next step.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Hi David,

Thank you for your patience and reply.

We have run some tests from our end, at the moment, we did not find any abnormality and is working fine.

If you follow the steps above, by right it should be working fine.

Q1. May I know the exact steps that you use to run the simulation? (command used), and Is there any licensing issue when opening Questa Intel Starter?

Q2. Could you try it on linux environment?

Q3. Are you running multiple Quartus version in your operating system? Could you please check you environment variables if the directory is correct.

I would also like to suggest below item and see if symptom still happens from your end:

  1. re-generate your design in a new folder and re-run the simulation.
  2. use the latest Quartus version for your design.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Hi

I do very much appreciate your answers, however, I really do not have the time available during the next few weeks to revisit this issue.

I will try all your suggestions in a few weeks, and if the issue still persists then I will re-open the case or start a new one.

Thanks

David
